The Scarlet Letter Scandal Project

For a post-reading assignment, you must create a letter for a famous person who has created some sort of scandal. Hester Prynne had to wear the letter "A" in her Puritan community to show that she committed adultery. Create a letter that best represents the person's actions that have been frowned upon.

  • Your mini poster should include the letter (creatively designed), background information on the person, a description of his/her scandal, how the public has reacted to the scandal, how the "shunning" has affected him/her, why you chose the letter for this person, and compare/contrast the person to Hester Prynne. You will be presenting your letters to the class.

  • You may choose a person from the list on the link or come up with someone else who is famous and has caused a scandal (dead/alive). Some other people: Lindsay Lohan, Chris Brown, Sadam Hussain, Marie Antoinette, and Stalin. Below is the link to the original assignment.
